BARCELONA FC BIDS SEYDOU KEITA FAREWELL AFTER 4 YEARS AND 14 TITLES.
Toeing the line of the coach who signed him into Barcelona FC, Malian football star Seydou Keita has called it quits with the Catalan club after playing 188 games and scoring 22 goals in the same period as well. With three La Lliga titles, two Champions Leagues, two Spanish Cups, three Spanish Super Cups, 2 European Super Cups and 2 World Club Cups, the Malian who was signed from Seville will definitely be missed by both players and fans of the club.
Throughout his four years at the Catalan club, Seydou Keita conducted himself in a professional, moral and exemplary character to the admiration of everyone. Pep Guardiola never hid his admiration for the player whom he fondly called his "Moral and Ethical Yardstick., i have known few people with his humanity." He once also said, “whilst I am coach, there will always be a place for Keita in my squad.”
His next move remains uncertain as there are reports he may be on his way to China also with likes of Didier Drogba and company. What is interesting from this piece is the level of respect and the club, players, managers and supporters have for him, quite unlike some people i know.
